The challenge
Leading London planning law firm, Asserson, had been shortlisted for an award at the annual Planning Awards and were looking for a short, sharp media relations and social media campaign to get them on the map in their industry PR-wise, having never engaged anyone to handle PR for them before.
On the media side, we worked closely with one of their senior planning counsel to put together a series of comment articles written by in-house Asserson experts on topical subjects, including the ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone), regeneration, urban decline, planning delays, tall buildings, London’s housing problems and possible care villages.
The results
We then pitched these to a range of planning and property media as well as property editors/sections on the national media. Immediately, we secured articles on ULEZ in Estates Gazette and in Planning Magazine (which also appeared on their website, Planning Resource) – both written by Asserson’s Senior Associate.
In addition, we secured two articles in The Planner – one on tall buildings and one on dementia care villages which are due to run later this year and attracted interest on the an article about tall buildings from the Evening Standard.
As well as the media coverage that we secured for the firm, we set up a Twitter account, engaged with key opinion formers, journalists and organisations in the industry, posted regular comments by Asserson partners on topical subjects and built up a good mix of quality followers for the firm.
